Cern Joined: 10 Apr 2009 Posts: 15 Location: Pittsburgh area SWAP is small, but tight. We may not have regular official meetings, but we hang out together pretty much every week. We just celebrated the tenth anniversary of The Phantom Menace this last sunday at my apartment. by my organization, do you mean a Pgh branch of PAJedi? cause that would be a no. I am just asking around to see if there's anyone on these boards in the area. I have some formal martial arts training in Muay Thai and Escrima, and a smattering of TKD from a neighborhood friend, but i'm really rusty on it and want to get back into it. is there a established curriculum for the Forms? Maybe there might be a way to get some of these people from areas where we are not at, to either come here or do a little internet training. There are plenty of videos that are here on this site, I believe that the Letters Chart is still posted here, too. I'm from Johnstown and am looking for people closer than Philly or DC interested in this. I do occasionally travel to Pittsburgh and would be interested in working with people on learning more. I have a minimal background in weapons use and it has been a few years since I've worked with them. I normally learn things pretty quickly though so I don't see it taking to long to getting back to a descent level. I'm talking with a few of my friends testing interest level here also to see who might be up for it. None of them to my knowledge have weapons training but several of them have worked as professional wrestlers in local feds so they may be able to bring additional skill sets that could be beneficial in other areas. Are the people from your group in Pittsburgh or do you have others from surrounding areas? Is your group doing the Pittsburgh Comicon in October?

Cern Joined: 10 Apr 2009 Posts: 15 Location: Pittsburgh area dang! i got laid off and lost my internet access for a bit, only to come back and see a bunch of responses! Sorry about that! Hrm. I know at least one guy from SWAP who'd want in on a group, and maybe my brother. We've been trying to recruit some new folks into the group, but not much success. I recently made a stop at a mall about 5 minutes from my apartment to pick up some comics (STAR WARS: INVASION 0, 3, & 4! I'm caught up finally) and noticed there is a martial arts school opening there that has Kendo classes wednesdays, so i'm thinking of looking into that for some actual knowledge. We were at Comicon, sorry i didnt see the earlier post! We should be at the Steel City toy show in december, but we may be changing the name of the group to the "Sci Fi Alliance of Pittsburgh." (which i hate. its like Sci-Fi Channel renaming themselves SYFY. bleh. Oh well, not my idea. Also the acronym would be "S-FAP" which will get you banned on some boards. but I digress..)
